Camping Ropes Course Introduction
What is a ropes course anyhow? Originally used for training military troops, possibly as far back as the ancient Greeks, ropes courses today are designed for personal development. Building confidence, self-esteem, trust and leadership skills are emphasized.
Typically you will find low-ropes courses and high-ropes courses. If this is new to you, a low-ropes course is the place to start. These are normally just a few feet off the ground and consist of a series of safe obstacles designed to build different skills in the participants.
High-ropes courses take place in more elevated places; up to 50 feet high in some courses. You will be required to sign a waiver and safety gear will be critical as well. The main challenge is overcoming the perceived danger in order to build trust and confidence in yourself and your group.
Often ropes courses are designed for corporations but you can find them for kids, families and individuals as well.
