With more than fifty parks, Oregon state campgrounds have something for everyone. Be sure and check with the individual parks before planning your trip, however, many of them are only open on a seasonal basis. Following is an overview of some of the many state campgrounds in Oregon.
Ainsworth
Ainsworth State Park is in the Columbia River Gorge. This area has the greatest concentration of waterfalls in the world. It is perfect for those who are seeking a beautiful area for hiking and observing nature and wildlife.

Collier Memorial State Park
Collier Memorial State Park is located in south central Oregon. This Oregon state campground is a must for the history or railroad aficionado. There is an outdoor museum of historic logging equipment, a pioneer village that has been relocated to the site, and information about how the railroad was used in logging. The park is open year round.

Deschutes River State Recreation Area
The Deschutes River State Recreation Area is one of the Oregon state campgrounds that allows horses. Trail riding is allowed from March through June. They do require reservations but allow up to ten horses per day on the trail.Other things to do here include:

Smith Rock State Park

There are also miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The park is open year round and camping is on a first come first serve basis. Camp sites are primitive and open fires are prohibited.

The Cove Palisades State Park
